Title:  Halide perovskites: Another class of “miracle” materials for optoelectronics?

Abstract:  Trihalide perovskites have made impressive progress in photovoltaic conversion efficiency during the last ten years to be nowadays in the forefront of leading research solar cells [1]. Interestingly, this class of solution-processed materials also exhibits a remarkable combination of physical properties much sought after in optoelectronics [2], i.e. band gap tunability, strong absorption, high photoluminescence quantum yield, etc.

In the first part of the seminar, mostly aimed at graduate and PhD students, we examine the main physical properties of halide perovskites that are of great interest for high performance solar cells. Then we review some remarkable optical properties reported recently in low dimensional perovskite nanostructures (see Figure 1 in the attached file). Finally, we emphasize the main practical issues to be addressed for the development of promising light emitting devices.
